Artist and Gardener extraordinaire Stephen will be leading a whittling workshop in the picturesque Precinct garden.

Whittling: the art of carving shapes out of wood using specialist knives. Dating back to early man, whittling was considered the hobby of soldiers during the Civil War in 1865 who ‘with skilled hands and idle hours whittled to pass the time’ https://wood-furnaces.net/annotated-history-wood-whittling.html.

In this 2 hour workshop Stephen will show you traditional whittling skills, safe knife management and the proper use of whittling tools.

Barter Item: Seeds to grow

 

Materials for the workshop will be provided including whittling knives. The workshop is not suitable for children on this occasion.
