St Katharine’s Precinct Now Open

We look forward to welcoming you!

St Katharine’s Precinct is an important step for us, the beginning of a new phase in The Royal Foundation’s mission of worship, hospitality and service. Opening up to our communities in a new way, we look forward to working together to create a space where people can come together across all differences and really get to know one another. This could be through taking a moment of quiet reflection, sharing a table at the cafe, or creating or joining a project to improve the local area.

What you will find here:

Working with architect Matthew Lloyd, we have tried to provide a space that will allow people to eat, create, connect and reflect together:

Here is a short visual tour of what you will see now (and many thanks to our wonderful architect Matthew Lloyd, who has posted some pictures on the Architect’s Journal instagram).

The Yurt Café:

Hospitality and the relationships that grow through the breaking of bread together have been at the centre of St Katharine’s existence over many centuries. Join us for healthy and homemade food, from freshly prepared soups and sandwiches to cakes. Our tea comes as you like it, and our coffee is roasted to perfection in Peckham, coming to us direct from Old Spike Roastery.   IMG_20151020_183933   IMG_4065

The Reflective Yurt:

This should be arriving this week and connect to the cafe as a place to escape to for peace, quiet and reflection. We hope that this will become a space to help people find meaning in their busy lives:

The Wellbeing Hub:

Wellbeing is many things: living to our full potential, enjoying a fullness of health, contributing to those around us… We hope to explore it further, both as individuals and as a community, through collective projects, workspace residencies & a future whole person health project.

The Arts Space:

A space to create art, to enjoy art, and to open up wider possibilities for communication across all divides. Run by Bow Arts studios, we look forward to soon welcoming you to our first open day.

The Outdoor Cinema: Opening next spring or summer, this will host silent cinema and possibly some performances. It’s beautiful even in the rain.

And finally, plenty of room for your bicycles if you don’t come on foot or by the DLR:

We hope to see you soon!
